Congratulations, Dr. Dabney!!!

Tyler Dabney successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled “Development of Cold Spray Cr Coatings on Zr-alloy for Advanced Nuclear Fuel Cladding”.  His thesis focused on coating formation mechanisms in cold spray Cr deposition on Zr-alloy, radiation damage effects including interfacial mixing, mechanical behavior of the coating substrate system using in situ synchrotron x-ray diffraction and in situ SEM micro-cantilever experiments, and hydrothermal corrosion and high-temperature air/steam oxidation studies.  During his graduate work, Tyler interned at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratory conducting experiments pertinent to his graduate research.  Tyler was also the recipient of U.S. Department of Energy’s prestigious Nuclear Energy University Program (NEUP) Fellowship.
