NAMRG members attended The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) Annual Meeting held in San Diego, CA from March 19th to March 23rd.
Professor Kumar Sridharan gave two presentations entitled “Cold Spray Deposition for Mitigation and Repair of Stress Corrosion Cracking in Used Nuclear Fuel Storage Stainless Steel Canisters” (on behalf on former NAMRG scientist Dr. Hwasung Yeom) and “Understanding the Mechanisms of Corrosion in 316 Stainless Steels and Advanced Ni-based Alloys in Molten FLiNaK at 700 °C” (on behalf of former NAMRG PhD student Dr. William Doniger).
Graduate student Tyler Dabney gave a presentation entitled “Impact of Thermal Treatment and Irradiation on Mechanical Behavior of Cold Spray Cr Coatings on Zr-alloy Cladding.”
Graduate student Kyle Quillin gave a presentation entitled “Microstructure and Mechanical Behavior of Cr Coatings for Mitigating Hydrothermal Corrosion of SiC-SiCf Fuel Cladding.”
Graduate student John Lacy gave a presentation entitled “Peening Technologies to Mitigate Initiation and Resurgence of Stress Corrosion Cracking in Dry Cask Storage Stainless Steel Canisters.”
