Graduate student Ryan Gordon attended the Molten Salt Workshop and the Advanced Research Program Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) Program Kick-off Meeting held at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (Oak Ridge, TN) from October 12th to 14th, 2022. Molten salt-cooled reactors are being actively developed and implemented as the next generation advanced reactors. Ryan’s research will focus on understanding the molten fluoride salt corrosion behavior of advanced Ni-based alloys strengthened by solid solution strengthening, and by nanometric carbide and intermetallic phase strengthening. The research program is sponsored by the ARPA-E program.
